I bolted some old BMW sports seats I had laying around into the Corvair. It feels like a totally different car.

Kinja'd!!!

Because the seats felt so solid and the car was running good, I decided to get on it a bit. As I revved out 2nd gear I felt a bit of a stumble. I looked behind me to see smoke pouring out the back. I thought I had fucked a piston, but it turned out the dipstick just shot out and sprayed a ton of oil everywhere. A bunch fell under the fan and was squirting out near the cylinder head which scared the shit out of me.

I also think I found why it's putters a bit when cold. It seems the choke arm is missing from the driver's side carb. I'm going to see if I can remedy it with a zip tie.

That's a pretty good swap. The seats were maybe the single worst part of my '69, like sitting on a wooden stool with a back. Was the swap pretty straight forward?

Am I going crazy or experiencing déjà vu? I'm sure I saw this earlier?

Nice ride, air cooled is hot.

I set the time wrong, so it was up for about a minute.

Mine is the Monza trim, so it had the vinyl bucket seats. They would have been nice, but they had completely dissolved so I was basically sitting on the floor. The brackets don't line up, so you have to fab an adapter. Or just drill new holes and put in some support for the bolts.

Nice. Just looked at the pictures of yours, good looking car. Mine had the same style slotted mags, nice looking wheels on a Corvair. Feels weird talking about my Corvair in the past tense, since it's still sitting in my driveway, but it's sold and just waiting to be picked up.

The kid I bought the car from said the wheels were off a Datsun. I need to put a new lug in one of them. I really like them. Fits perfect with the low slung look of the car.

Yeah, I believe it. Slotted mags were a pretty common 60s-70s look, lots of people made them. Mine were Ansens, but you do see those on Datsuns all the time. What engine is yours? A 102?

It's a Monza 900 so I think it should have the 95 up engine. I haven't pulled off the fan shroud to check the numbers yet.
